Providence Square Condominium Apartments, located on Main Street in Old Town, City of Fairfax, completes the enhanced streetscape in this downtown area of the city. The use of colonial red brick, many paned windows, and classic details around the front entrance integrates the building into the flavor of "old town" without affectation, or any patent display of artificial 'age' that so often pervades attempts at historical replication. Built on the street property line, the project livens and enhances the streetscape, and provides a touch of the urban in an otherwise suburban location. A previously under-utilized section of mismatched and ragged single family homes and worn out commercial low rise establishments has been replaced by an esthetically pleasing and handsome multi family housing structure that makes Fairfax City's "old town" an inviting and pleasing neighborhood to both live and work in. It is felt that the successful introduction of this project into Old Town will encourage more esthetically and contextually pleasing additions and restorations to the area.
